The Quick Search Control (see Document Manager) lets you quickly search all folders for text in the IDs and names of files. For greater control of search criteria, use the Advanced Search Dialog. This dialog is opened by clicking the Advanced Search button in the header toolbar of any Document Manager folder. Results for quick searches and advanced searches are shown in the Search Results Page. Note that some searches - when field by field granularity is important - are best done from the Manager Page. Parameters are linked by the AND operator to build your search statement.
Search Button - Click this button to execute the search.
Reset Button - Click this button to reset all fields in the dialog to their system defaults, which are noted below.
Locations Field - This is a multiselect list of active locations the user has access to. If you open this dialog from a location based folder, that location defaults here. The system default is None. Folders for selected locations will be searched.
Projects Field - This is a multiselect list of active projects the user has access to. If you open this dialog from a project based folder, that project defaults here. The system default is None. Folders for selected projects will be searched.
Shared Field - This is a system list of two choices: Yes and No. This determines whether or not Shared folders are included in the search. The system default is Yes.
Search For Field - This is a system list: Files and Folders, Files Only, and Folders Only. The default is Files Only.
Document # Field - The system default is empty. Type all or part of document # in this field to search for it.
File Extension Field - This is a multiselect list of all of the file extensions allowed in the database. (See PMWeb Admin Utility for information about allowing file extensions.) In searches, only files with selected extensions are considered. The default is All.
Named Field - The system default is empty. Type all or part of a file or folder name - up to 256 characters - in this field to search for it.
File Attributes Field - The system default is empty. Type all or part of text that is included in file attributes - up to 256 characters - in this field to search for it.
Search Contents Too Field - This is a system list of two choices: Yes and No. If Yes is selected, text entered in the File Attributes field is also searched for within the text of files. The system default is No. Note that not all file types can be searched for content. Text PDFs, MS Word, and MS Excel documents are best suited for this type of search.
Modified By - The system default is empty. Type all or part of a user name in this field to search for it. This parameter searches the "Added By", "Last Updated By", and "Last Checked In/Out By" fields.
Modified Field - This is a system list. The system default is Any Time. If you select "Between", two date fields appear. This parameter searches the "Added", "Last Updated", and "Last Checked In/Out" fields.
