The Calendars page is used to mark days as non-working days. Schedules can be linked to a calendar (see Schedules) and the non-working days defined in the calendar are taken into account when the schedule is calculated. An unlimited number of Calendar records can be created. Calendars can be updated at any time. If a calendar is updated, every schedule linked to it can be recalculated to show the effects of the update. The recommended procedure for building a calendar is to:
Use the Regular Days Off section to create the typical days off
Use the date picker control and the Days Off table to create exceptions
See the Calendar control section for details about the data in this table. Lines can be added to the table either by clicking a date on the Calendar control or by using the Add button. Lines can be deleted from the table by highlighting them and then clicking the Delete button. Lines in the table have a type of:
"Exception" - a regular day off that you have marked as a working day
"Off" - a working day that you marked as a non-working day
The Calendar control can be used interactively to create two types of exceptions:
To mark a regular day off as a working day, left click it on the Calendar control. A new line immediately appears at the top of the Days Off table. Enter a description of the exception (optional) and then click the Save button in the Days Off table toolbar to save the exception. The date is now highlighted in color in the Calendar control. An example of this type of exception is near the end of a project when resources are asked to work extra days in order to finish on time.
To mark a working day as an off day, left click it on the Calendar control. A new line immediately appears at the top of the Days Off table. Enter a description of the exception (optional) and then click the Save button in the Days Off table toolbar to save the exception. The date is now highlighted in gray in the Calendar control. An example of this type of exception is a public holiday.
