Equipment Cost Worksheet Tab

 
This tab is comprised of three sections:
 
Cost to own and Cost to operate are combined to calculate Total cost of ownership.

Cost Field

1. Cost Field
Enter the total cost of the asset. The depreciation table is recalculated each time this field is edited.

Salvage Field

2. Salvage Field
Enter the salvage value of the asset at the end of the depreciation period. The depreciation table is recalculated each time this field is edited.

Life (years) Field

3. Life (years) Field
Enter the number of years in the depreciation period. The depreciation table is recalculated each time this field is edited.

Depreciation Method Section

4. Depreciation Method Section
Select a depreciation method. "Double-declining balance" and "Sum of years digits" are for future use.

Depreciation Schedule Section

5. Depreciation Schedule Section
Read only. This table displays the depreciation schedule for the asset. It is recalculated each time Cost, Salvage, or Life (years) is edited.

Cost to Own Period Dropdown

6. Cost to Own Period Dropdown
System list. Select a time unit for entering cost to own information for the asset. Values are:
 
  • Day
  • Hour
  • Month
  • Other
  • Quarter
  • Week
  • Year

Cost to Own Table

7. Cost to Own Table
Use this table to enter an unlimited number of costs to own the asset per the unit of time selected above.

Total Per Cost Period Field

Read only. The sum of the costs in the Cost to own table.

Hours Per Cost Period Field

9. Hours Per Cost Period Field
To convert the Total per cost period to a per hour calculation, enter the number of hours of activity for the asset per the unit of time selected above.

Cost to Own Per Hour Field

10. Cost to Own Per Hour Field
Each time the Save button is clicked this field will be recalculated as Total per cost period divided by Hours per cost period.

11. Cost to Operate Period Dropdown
System list. Select a time unit for entering cost to operate information for the asset. This may be the same as, or different from, the unit of time selected in the Cost to own section. Values are:
 
  • Day
  • Hour
  • Month
  • Other
  • Quarter
  • Week
  • Year

12. Cost to Operate Table
Use this table to enter an unlimited number of costs to operate the asset per the unit of time selected above.

Total Per Cost Period Field

Read only. The sum of the costs in the Cost to operate table.

Convert Cost Period to Rate Hours Field

14. Convert Cost Period to Rate Hours Field
Enter a factor to convert the time unit selected above to operating hours.

Cost to Operate Per Hour Field

15. Cost to Operate Per Hour Field
Read only. Calculated as Total per cost period divided by Convert cost period to rate hours.

Total Cost of Ownership Field

Read only. Calculated as Cost to own per hour plus Cost to operate per hour.
