Asset Explorer

 
The PMWeb Asset Explorer is a visual representation in tree form of everything you own and/or manage. It is interactive, allowing users to navigate to records, create new records, and move records.

Expand/Collapse Icon

This is a toggle button. Click once to collapse the Asset Explorer and again - - to expand it.

Group By Dropdown

2. Group By Dropdown
This is a system list. Select a level of grouping for the Asset Explorer here. Grouping is applied as soon as a selection is made. The choices are:
  • -- Select --  - No grouping is applied
  • Country - Grouped by the country of the location
  • Location Type - Grouped by the type of the location
  • State - Grouped by the state of the location
  • Equipment Type - Filters for only equipment records and groups them by the type of the equipment

If checked, only active locations and their sub-records appear in the tree

Location Type Folders

4. Location Type Folders
These are grouping folders, in this case location types. Right-click a group folder to open a flyout menu:
 
 
Select "Add" and then "Location" to add a new location to the group. Type a name for the new location and press ENTER to save.

Locations

5. Locations
These are locations. Right-click a location to open a flyout menu:
 
  • Rename - Allows you to type a new name for the location in the tree without navigating to the location record
  • Open - Navigates to the location record
  • Delete - Deletes the location record from the database
  • Add - Opens this flyout menu:
 
  • Location - Inserts a location at the bottom of the tree. Type a name for the new location and press ENTER to save.
  • Building - Inserts a building under the location. Type a name for the new building and press ENTER to save.
  • Floor and Space - Inactive at this level
  • Equipment - Inserts an equipment record under the location. Type a name for the new equipment record and press ENTER to save.

Building

6. Building
This is a building. Right-click a building to open a flyout menu:
 
  • Rename - Allows you to type a new name for the building in the tree without navigating to the building record
  • Open - Navigates to the building record
  • Delete - Deletes the building record from the database
  • Add - Opens this flyout menu:
 
  • Location - Inserts a location at the bottom of the tree. Type a name for the new location and press ENTER to save.
  • Floor - Inserts a floor under the building. Type a name for the new floor and press ENTER to save.
  • Building and Space - Inactive at this level
  • Equipment - Inserts an equipment record under the building. Type a name for the new equipment record and press ENTER to save.

Floor

7. Floor
This is a floor. Right-click a floor to open a flyout menu:
 
  • Rename - Allows you to type a new name for the floor in the tree without navigating to the floor record
  • Open - Navigates to the floor record
  • Delete - Deletes the floor record from the database
  • Add - Opens this flyout menu:
 
  • Location - Inserts a location at the bottom of the tree. Type a name for the new location and press ENTER to save.
  • Building and Floor - Inactive at this level
  • Space - Inserts a space under the floor. Type a name for the new space and press ENTER to save.
  • Equipment - Inserts an equipment record under the floor. Type a name for the new equipment record and press ENTER to save.

Equipment

8. Equipment
This is an equipment record. Right-click to open a flyout menu:
 
  • Rename - Allows you to type a new name for the equipment record in the tree without navigating to the equipment record
  • Open - Navigates to the equipment record
  • Delete - Deletes the equipment record from the database
  • Add - Opens this flyout menu:
 
  • Location - Inserts a location at the bottom of the tree. Type a name for the new location and press ENTER to save.
  • Building, Floor, Space, and Equipment - Inactive at this level
 
You can left-click on an equipment record and drag and drop it on a different location, building, floor, or space. As soon as you release the mouse after the drag and drop the equipment record is moved out of its old placement and moved into its new one. (See Equipment Moves Tab)

Projects

9. Projects
This folder appears if one or more projects is linked to the asset by listing it in the Linked Assets section of the projects record. Double-click on a project to navigate to it in Portfolio/Lists/Projects.

Space

10. Space
This is a space. Right-click a space to open a flyout menu:
 
  • Rename - Allows you to type a new name for the space in the tree without navigating to the space record
  • Open - Navigates to the space record
  • Delete - Deletes the space record from the database
  • Add - Opens this flyout menu:
 
  • Location - Inserts a location at the bottom of the tree. Type a name for the new location and press ENTER to save.
  • Building, Floor, and Space - Inactive at this level
  • Equipment - Inserts an equipment record under the space. Type a name for the new equipment record and press ENTER to save.

Occupants

11. Occupants
If the space has one or more occupants, this folder appears in the tree. See Asset Management/Assets/Spaces/Spaces Occupants Tab for information about managing occupants.

Lease

12. Lease
This is a lease. It appears if the record is listed as the primary asset in the Linked Assets section of the lease record. Double-click on the lease to navigate to it in Asset Management/Leases/Leases.
